Angelina Jolie, born Angelina Jolie Voight on June 4, 1975, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actress famous for her tattoos and her acting ability. Jolie, which in French means pretty, was born to an Academy Award-winning actor, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand with only one brother named James Haven. Just like any other children at her age, she also had a favorite cartoon character that she liked very much, which was the flying elephant Disney character "Dumbo." She said that she cried when he was able to fly. Meanwhile, unlike her friends in general, little Jolie had had her own "different" childhood dream, which was to be a funeral director. Despite all the media coverage on her relationship with her brother, Jolie has the letter "H" tattooed on the inside of her left wrist which is, for her, is a reference to two people she is close to who have this letter in their names: her brother James Haven, and Timothy Hutton. However, she says the H tattoo stands only for James for she has already broken up with Hutton. Any other tattoos she has in her body include the Japanese sign for death, two pointy black American Indian symbols, a dragon, and a large black cross.

I had many different styles to choose from at Vera Wang, the movie's costume designer Karen Patch told Brides magazine. "The idea for [Kate's] dress was that she was the iconic bride—the bride on the top of the wedding cake. She was the bride who could have anything she wanted."



Sounds just like the reality star, who also walked down the aisle in a custom Vera Wang creation, which like Hudson's dress, featured a strapless neckline, fitted bodice and layers and layers of tulle.

Women do not have a comparable uniform, in part because women’s fashions are more varied and in part because women didn’t play a major role in classical performance in the years when these traditions were being codified. Yes, there were a handful of soloists. But for years, there were few women (if any) in major symphony orchestras, and virtually no female conductors. Female orchestra members and conductors still have to contend with the issue of what they should be wearing on a regular basis.

The criticism of women’s clothing onstage has been a red flag for me ever since Eve Queler said that when she started conducting in the late 1960s, her clothing so dominated her reviews that one critic complained that a zipper glinting on the back of her evening gown was distracting. This is obvious sexism. Unfortunately, the tenor of the discussion of women’s attire in this field has retained more than a hint of this sexist tone ever since.

The pageant princess’s gown featured a tulle bodice studded with French beads, sequins and Swarovski crystals, and a skirt made of silk taffeta, which was then fashioned with horsehair to give the dress its architectural shape. “Alyssa broke all ‘pageant rules’ by wearing an unusual high fashion design,” Hill tells InStyle.com, “and choosing emerald green for competition rather than a more traditional pageant color.” Campanella — a natural blonde and self-proclaimed “history geek” who dates actor Torrance Coombs — will represent the United States in fine fashion at Miss Universe in September.

New dress code needs a makeover, parents say

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It's a new school year and a new sense of fashion at Providence High School. Parents say they were notified a few days ago about the change. And are protesting it.



The rules state students cannot wear tank tops, halter tops, and shorts and skirts must pass the fingertip test.



Parent Kathleen O'Leary says the timing is bad. She wonders why Charlotte - Mecklenburg schools (CMS) didn't notify parents about the change before parents spent money for clothes during tax free weekend. She has a daughter who attends Providence.



"She and her father went to New York," O'Leary said. "And they did a lot of the shopping up there at shops that are not available down here and I can't return those clothes."

The principal says since fashion is ever changing, she had to make sure dress code was clear so students will remain focused in school.



O'Leary is now requesting the school to delay the start of the dress code to allow students to wear the clothes that have already been purchased.



"We've already done the school shopping," the mom said. "And I don't have the time nor the money to go out and buy more stuff."



Each Charlotte - Mecklenburg school (CMS) has its own dress code. The reason is parents at every school help develop the what to wear and what not to wear.

Marymass Queen to have new dress for big day

MARYMASS Queen Elect Alanna McGinnis will be crowned in a brand new dress this year.



And it’s all thanks to a wee woman with a huge talent.



But Royal dressmaker Margaret McGregor is keeping tight-lipped about the colour and style of the queen’s gown.



Margaret first got involved with making the Marymass Queen and Marys’ gowns when her granddaughter, Linzi McGowan, was a Mary.



And for the last seven years, she has been responsible for creating the beautiful gowns worn by the Queen and the Marys.



Last week, Allana and Marys Ellie Macmillan, Caitlin-Jay Quinn, Stephanie Sharp and Chloe Wilson arrived at Margaret’s house to look at dresses and pick their gowns for the year.



And Margaret and Allana came up with a plan for a new queen’s dress.



Margaret, of Rubie Crescent, said: “I got involved with Marymass is because my granddaughter Linzi McGowan was a Mary a few years ago.



“It’s a busy time of year but it’s worth it when you see how happy the girls are in their dresses.”



Queen elect Allana said: “I can’t wait for everyone to see the dress on Marymass Saturday.



“We’re keeping the colour a secret but I can’t wait to see what Margaret makes for me.”



Margaret is now on a tight deadline with just over a week to make a new dress, alter the other gowns and have them all ready for the dress rehearsal next week.
